dublin castle alternative view tower bermingham ireland

A rare view of the Castle during demolition work on nearby George's Street

This unique picture was taken in July 2003, showing the rarely-seen east side of Dublin Castle. I seem to recall that the tower is named the 'Bermingham' tower but I'll check that information. The site in the foreground is owned by Dunne's Stores and part of a massive redevelopment in the George's Street area of the south city. Part of the site included the Dunlop building which was needlessly destroyed, despite its historic significance.
