At the most northerly point on the New Ross-Macmine Junction trackbed
I believe this picture is extraordinary since CIE locomotive no. 149 is just behind the photographer (see next page). The location is a point beyond New Ross station, on the abandoned trackbed between New Ross and Macmine junction, but not too far from the Barrow Bridge. The trackbed was not maintained by CIE, either by hand or by the annual weedsprayer train which only went as far as the passing loop in New Ross. The photographer is facing north or north-east; the blank shape is where he has digitally removed the image of someone who did not wish to be represented in the picture (however, the original picture still exists as a colour slide/transparency and as a scanned image).
