dunlop tire tyre historic plaque memorial

Detail of plaque at Stephens Street, Dublin

The text states: "The first pneumatic tyre factory in the world was started here in 1898 to make tyres under John Boyd Dunlop's patent of the 7th December 1888." [many thanks to Paul Sinclair for spotting a text error]. This is where rubber was first burned - there is a picture of the building here.
